If you were a child in the 80s, what was the best toy you remember having. The more obscure the better.?
Everyone remembers Carebears and G.I. Joe and Lego and stuff like that.
What do you remember loving (at any age really) that we don’t really see anymore?
For example, I had a bath toy called Tub Town (by a company called Lakeside) that was my favorite for years. It was a ‘town’ that suctioned onto the tub wall and had a pool, bedroom with shower, restaurant, fish and chip shop, elevator and a dock. It came with 3 little people and a boat and a couple of sea animals. At least that’s what I remember about it.
Another one was Memory. It’s still available in much the same format (box with red plastic grid container inside and square, rounded corner picture cards) but mine had different pictures than every one I’ve ever seen.
What (possibly unusual) toy do you remember as a kid? Do you still have it?
I grew up in Germany and my grandmother brought me a robot commander from the US. you were suppose to be able to tell it to walk run speak… me being German. it didn’t work properly. and I had a duck xylophone pull toy… it was a duck with the musical instrument on its back and quacked and played music at the same time. In a late 1980′s movie they used that toy in a scene in the movie where they laid an infant child to bed and the toy string wrapped around it’s neck and killed it. when I saw it I walked mine outside, thinking it was possessed, and threw it away.
